In the cloud age, local file servers seem to be from a different time - they are still indispensable in existing environments. Different file servers in different locations and all servers have different files, states, hardware etc.. A backup is also necessary. Don't waste time and take a look at the next generation file server with Azure Filesync. Azure File Sync is the next step to deploying a central file server in Azure - with the ability to migrate all data to Azure, synchronize the data with different file servers, and store only the "hottest data" on the local file server.
